This years Counties started on Febuary 12th at Beechdale Swimming Centre, with Falcon having a number of swimmers who had acheived the required qualification times in order to enter in their respective age groups.The championships got under way with the first event being the girls 400m Individual Medley. With 4 swimmers competing Falcon had immediate success with Amelia Sale winning the 11 & under age group (5.42.13) followed by 15 yr old Imogen Gould acheiving the same result in a time of 5.04.03.Kirsten Gilding finished in 8th place (5.49.39) in the 12 & under's and Megan Geoghegan 6th (5.40.02) in the 13 & under's.

The boys started their campaign with the 100m Butterfly with 13 yr old Prentice Dawn finishing in 2nd place in a time of 1.10.89 and Steve Catton finishing 3rd (1.01.44) in the 16\18 years, a time good enough to make the overall final where he finished 4th (1.02.07)

The girls 100m Backstroke saw another fantastic result for Amelia Sale with her winning the 11 & under's in a time of 1.17.86. In the 12 & under's Emily Waldram (1.18.96) finished 17th and Kirsten Gilding came home 19th (1.19.84). Megan Geoghegan completed another victory in the 13 & under age group, winning in a time of 1.13.08 and with Imogen Gould finishing 2nd in a time of 1.08.65 in the 15 & under age group ensuring she made the overall final where she finished 5th (1.08.60).

The boys then moved onto the 400m Freestyle where Falcon had 3 swimmers representing the club, 13 yr old Prentice Dawn came 4th (4.44.93), Robert Barton came 6th in the 15 & under age group (4.33.12) and Andrew Zawadzki also came 6th in the 16\18 years (4.24.89).

Making her first appearance at the counties 10 yr old Ellie-May Gunn finished 23rd in a time of 47.06 in the 50m Backstroke whilst Amelia Sale continued her domination in the 11 & under's, winning in a time of 35.84. Kirsten Gilding (37.03) finished 18th, Emily Waldram (37.16) finished 19th and Olivia Gould (37.73) finshed 22nd in the 12 & under age group.With Megan Geoghegan (34.75) and Imogen Gould (32.84) both finishing 2nd in their respective age groups.

The last session of the day for the girls was the 100m Butterfly where once again all three Falcon swimmers acheived outstanding results, Amelia Sale finished off a fantastic day by winning the 11 & under's in a time of 1.16.61, Megan Geoghegan came 3rd (1.15.79) in the 13 & under's and Imogen Gould came first (1.05.41) in the 15 & under's, again acheiving the overall final where came 1st in a time of 1.04.79.

The last event of the day for the boys was the 200m Breaststroke where 14 yr old Tom Howarth came 3rd (2.51.59) and Robert Barton came 2nd (2.52.86) in the 15 & under's.

Day 2 Sunday 13th Febuary

The day started with the boys 50m Butterfly where 11 yr old Rhys Taylor finished 7th (38.89). Prentice Dawn finished 2nd (31.58) in the 13 & under's and Robert Barton finished 10th (31.77) in the 15 & under's.

The girls first event of the day again brought success for Amelia Sale as she won the 11 & under 200m Breaststroke in a time of 3.05.21. Falcon's other swimmers did themselves proud as Jessica Howarth came 5th in the 10 & under age group (3.29.37), Kirsten Gilding (3.01.03) and Imogen Gould (2.44.49) came 3rd in their respective age groups, with 13 yr old Megan Geoghegan finishing 5th (3.03.44).

In the 100m Breaststroke Tom Howarth just missed out on winning the 14 & under age group as he came 2nd in a time of 1.17.71. Other results were Prentice Dawn came joint 7th with James Terry in the 13 & under's (1.30.31), Daniel Terry came 7th in the 14 & under's (1.21.17), Robert Barton came 6th in the 15 & under's (1.19.790 and Andrew Zawadzki finished 10th in the 16\18 years (1.17.53).

Amelia Sale again dominated the in the 200m Freestyle as she cruised to victory in a time of 2.23.64, keeping her on course to win the 11 & under age group catergory overall. The other results were, 10 yrs, Ellie-May Gunn, 26th (3.19.82), Elise Connor,24th (3.12.89), 12 yrs, Kirsten Gilding, 7th (2.22.89), Emily Waldram, 22nd, (2.35.55), Rhiannon Taylor, 24th (2.36.35), 13 yrs, Megan Geoghegan 6th, (2.20.59) and Imogen Gould, 4th (2.10.75).

The boys 50m Backstroke saw some good swims with Rhys Taylor finishing 11th in the 11 & under age group (40.42), Prentice Dawn came 3rd in the 13 & under's (35.01) and 15 yr old Robert Barton finished 6th (33.10).

The start of the afternoon session was the boys 400m Individual Medley, Robert Barton finished an impressive 5th in a time of 5.16.17 in the 15 & under's, whilst Andrew Zawadzki came home in 4th place in a time of 5.07.96 in the 16\18 years.

There was no stopping the impressive Amelia Sale as she notched up another win in the girls 50m Butterfly, finishing in a time of 33.77, with a respectable 19th placed finish for her 11 year old team mate Sophie Melvin (43.40). The event also proved successful for Imogen Gould as she stormed to victory in a time of 30.35, making the overall final, where she was pipped into 2nd place by 100th of a second (29.85). Maintaining the good performances was 13 yr old Megan Geoghegan as she finshed 2nd (33.18). Other results were Rhiannon Taylor, 16th (37.51) in the 12 & under's and Chloe Melvin, 19th(37.30) in the 14 & under age group.

The last event of the day for the boys was the 200m Backstroke where again Falcon's swimmers did the club proud with Prentice Dawn finishing 4th (2.38.33), Robert Barton finishing 5th (2.26.62) and Rhys Taylor finishing 6th (2.56.66).

The girls finished the day with the 400m Freestyle and yet another phenomenal performance from the unstoppable Amelia Sale saw her finish 1st in a time of 5.04.80 to cap an incredible weekend of competitive swimming from the 11 yr old. Team mates Kirsten Gilding (5.00.94) came 8th in the 12 & under's and Megan Geoghegan came 7th (4.56.22) in the 13 & under's.

Head Coach commented after "that the level of performance was yet again a credit to the club and the swimmers should be extremely proud of what they have acheived, in total over the whole weekend they produced 44 personal best times, 16 Midland Qualifing times and 3 National Qualifing times, a brilliant display all round, well done".
