In another emphatic display of swimming, Falcon cruised to victory in gala 4 of the Sports Centre League at the Grove Leisure Centre in Newark on Saturday October 23rd, recording 21 wins and 10 2nd places out out of the 45 races. The result meansthat Falcon now have an unassailable lead at the top of Division 2, with the competition concluding on November 27th at their home pool in Hucknall, the club hopes to maintain it's 100% winning record since the competition began back in January. Head coach Callum Lawson said afterwards " it's a fantastic achievement to gain promotion with one gala to spare and with the swimmers still improving, I am sure there is more to come".
Once again it was Senior Club Captain Imogen Gould leading the way for the girls with three victories out of three in the 15 & under 100m Breaststroke, 100m Backstroke and the open 4x1 Individual Medley. Followed by Megan Geoghegan in the 13 & under 100m Backstroke and 4x1 Individual Medley, Megan Miles, 11 & under 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly, Rhiannon Taylor, 13 & under 50m Butterfly, Alex Nightingale, Open 4x1 Individual Medley, Chloe Melvin, 15 & under 50m Butterfly, Jessica Howarth, 11 & under 50m Freestyle and Libby Straw in the 13 & under 100m Breaststroke.
Also leading by example was Senior Club Captain for the boys, Steve Catton recording two victories in the Open 100m Freestyle and 100m Butterfly. The other wins were James Terry, 13 & under 50m Butterfly, Andrew Zawadzki, Open 4x1 Individual Medley, Jarrod Davies, 11 & under 50m Breaststroke, Tom Howarth, 13 & under 100m Breaststroke and Daniel Copley in the Open 100m Breaststroke.
The girls relay team of Miles, Howarth, Geoghegan and Taylor claimed 1st place in the 4x1 Medley, as did the boys in the same age group, Rhys Taylor, Davies, Terry and Howarth.
Second places were achieved by Daniel Terry, 15 & under 100m Breaststroke, Zawadzki, Open 100m Backstroke, Taylor, 11 & under 50m Butterfly and Howarth, 100m Freestyle for the boys, the girls were Howarth, 11 & under 50m Breaststroke, Nightingale, Open 100m Freestyle, Straw, 13 & under 100m Freestyle, Aimee Collier, Open 100m Breaststroke and in a closely contested mixed cannon , the 20 strong relay team.
